   06/07/2000, Tech File Update

It's been a long time.

Sorry.

It's getting on for nearly a year since I last updated my tech file. There are myriad reasons why I haven't updated, but most of those have gone away. So I'm back.

A *lot* has happened to me over the past 8 months or so. I'm now at university, in York (England), doing a Comp. Sci. degree. Course is pretty good, exams coming up in a week, should be ok. I got to meet Alex Champandard, who also writes here, and is at york, and put a face to a name.

I'm coming up to the end of my fresher's year, and the big thing at the moment is that I don't get a summer holiday. Reason is: I've been awarded a Microsoft internship over the summer, which basically involves me staying here in York and doing a research project of sorts here in Comp. Sci. I'll be working pretty closely with one of my lecturers on some stuff to do with character animation, camera planning and facial expression modelling. I'm not sure quite how much I'm allowed to mention since the project will be closely linked with some contracted work that's being done, and I don't know how free we are to broadcast stuff about that over the net.

I get to go to Microsoft's TechEd conference in Amsterdam as well, which should be interesting....

Anyway, that's about it for now. Sorry for the non-technical nature of this update, rest assured to next will be geared towards geeks :)

Cheers,

Henry
