Garage Games announced the availability of direct CVS access to their Torque Game Engine (formerly V12) for registered developers. Here's a clip from the press release:

Trolltech released version 3.0 of Qt, a cross-platform C++ GUI toolkit. Here's a bit of info:

" Qt provides a platform-independent API to all central platform functionality: GUI, database access, networking, file handling, etc. The Qt library encapsulates the different APIs of different operating systems, providing the application programmer with a single, common API for all operating systems. The native C APIs are encapsulated in a set of well-designed, fully object-oriented C++ classes. "

    The IGDA sent along a link to this presentation on game design by Harvey Smith (ION Storm), from a recent conference in Montreal. Here's a clip from the introduction:

    " In follow-up to the first essay on the design philosophy of the bot navigation system, the Artificial Intelligence Depot has just released a Tutorial on Obstacle Avoidance. It provides a background review of existing approaches for avoiding collisions, and describes the problem in simple terms. Neural networks are then trained to tackle the problem, providing a robust and flexible solution. A comprehensive practical insight into this process is provided. The results are then analysed and a demo is available. "

    Delphi3D announced the relaunch of their OpenGL Hardware Registry, using a new version of GLInfo. Here's the buzz:

    " GLinfo is a utility that collects information about your OpenGL drivers (i.e. version number, extension lists, and so on). GLinfo can submit all this information to Delphi3D, where it is entered into an online hardware capabilities database. "

    Charles Bloom posted an updated version of his 3D engine test bed, Galaxy2. According to the documentation, "This is a work in progress, and doesn't really have any specific functionality that anyone should care about.
