Call For New Gems
05:23 PM
    Discuss This!

I received the following chunk of information about the next Game Programming Gems book:

" This last August, the book Game Programming Gems was published and has received tremendous reviews (check out Amazon's customer reviews). Currently, the book is in its 3rd printing after only 4 months. The sequel Game Programming Gems 2 just started up and is now accepting proposals for articles. You can submit you article idea till Dec 25th at the website www.satori.org/gems2.

Below are some facts about the series:

* In GPG1, nearly 40 authors from the video game industry wrote 71 articles.
* GPG1 is in its 3rd printing with more than 15,000 books sold after just 4 months.
* GPG1 is a hardcover book with 614 pages and 8 pages of color plates.
* Authors receive royalties based on the sales of the book.
* Authors of GPG2 will have 2-3 months to write their articles, with an additional 1-2 months of editing.
* The goal for GPG2 is to be published in time for Siggraph (just like GPG1).
* Authors can write more than one article.
* Each article should be 2-10 pages, however some articles in GPG1 were 15-20 pages. GPG2 will have less of the introductory articles that tended to be longer.
* All article proposals will be carefully considered.
* There will be sections on Programming Techniques, Mathematics, AI, and Graphics.
* The editor of GPG1, Mark DeLoura, will also edit GPG2. He is currently the editor of Game Developer Magazine. Starting with GPG2, there will also be section editors that will help ensure the quality of each section.
* Since this series will have very high visibility for the next decade or so, please take advantage of this opportunity.
* More info can be found at www.satori.org/gems2. "

As you just read above, more info can be found at www.satori.org/gems2.
