The Daily Flip |
Discuss This! |
The flipforums (not the real name at all) are getting very close to launch-ready. I'm just putting in some finishing tweaks and doing some testing. They're rebuilt from scratch similar to the older forums, and integrate seamlessly with the site features that support reader comments. Barring any last-minute complications, I intend to finally have them online Tuesday morning.
Most of the existing comments and topic threads from the old site will be back for viewing (locked, with a message that clearly indicates omg-wow-this-is-old-content.) I wasn't sure if their resurrection was a great idea given how ancient they are, but after discussing it with a few old-school flipcoders, the consensus seems to be that it's worth having them up as reference material.
Rebuilding the forums has been a pretty time-consuming task, but I'm excited to move on to new features and fixes once they're up and running. I'm sure they'll still need improvements over time, but in the meanwhile I'd love to get some more fun stuff in motion. I'm thinking a contest should happen soon. Any suggestions on themes? Also, I'm assured by a few folks that they're still working on some original content to post here in the not-so-distant future. If you've got any ideas for something you'd like to write about or feature, please don't hesitate to drop a line. Thanks again for your feedback (and patience with the relaunch :) Oh, and apologies if I haven't responded to your e-mail just yet-- I'm still working through a bunch of them.
