The Daily Flip
Some of the naming suggestions folks submitted for the COTD/TOTD merge include "Sexy Snippet" (lol), "Meme of the Day", and "Tasty Bits." It still kind of feels like something is missing though. <zombievoice></zombievoice>
I finished adding ignore lists and most of the moderation tools to the new forums. Moderation works with a single flag for every post/thread. Each registered user has the choice over whether they trust our moderators' judgements. If so they'll only see posts that aren't 'marked down' by a moderator. If a user prefers, he can disable moderation completely and just view everything. The types of posts that moderators will mark down are mostly off-topic or pointless messages in focused threads, such as the comment forums. Our old moderation policy didn't work out too well, so this time around it'll be different. Very few discussions will have any posts physically removed, happening only in extreme cases. Hopefully the new approach will offer a reasonable balance both for those who prefer raw, unedited discussions and those who hate wading through pages of flamew4rz.
If you'd like to discuss programming, gfx, or any of these links, stop by the Message Center!
