The Daily Flip
I'm still hammering away at the forums, but there's still a lot to finish up. In particular, the interface for the moderation tools and better session tracking are my current focus; as well as a few last minute feature requests like post editing. Looks like the forums may be ready sometime this week, but still no promises. Here's a lil' screenshot of the current main forum page though, just to show you the basic layout. The style and color scheme are not far from the old ones. The forum visual design (as with the rest of the site) uses a collection of templates, so in theory there may eventually be skins to choose from, but I'm focusing primarily on functionality for now. The forum category breakdown matches those you'll find on the Knowledge Base and various upcoming areas of the site. Having a site-wide set of categories is handy for organization, and will make it easier for readers to find relevant content across different features.
Other stuff that I'm currently finishing up: An image upload manager, for automatic submission of things like IOTDs and Developer Desktops (which will be associated per-account now, for better organization), and also the unnamed TOTD/COTD section. The best name suggestion so far has been 'Featured Snippet', but I think we can do a bit better. Many thanks to those who've made suggestions so far, but any are still welcome ;p.
