The Aritifial Intelligence Depot posted a new tutorial entitled "First Steps in Game AI: Your Own Bot", written by Alex Champandard. Here's the fuzz:

" The article starts by looking into game AI, and specifically why it is so appealing even to academic researchers! It then considers the multiple options available for developing a first person shooter bot, including server-side and client-side approaches. Their benefits and pitfalls are discussed, and the way the information is available to the bot is analysed. The potential engines are presented (with Quake 2/3 and Half-life being among the better alternatives). Two specific cases are then detailed, including all the information you need to get started coding your own artificial intelligence. "
