UTD Game Conference
Brian Burleson sent along the following bit of information about an upcoming (free) game development conference, hosted at the University of Texas at Dallas:
October 5-7, 2001 the School of Arts and Humanities at the University of
Texas at Dallas (UTD) is holding a three-day conference on computer games.
The conference is part of a move to establish a new program where game
studies and game design will feature prominently. The aim of the conference
is to create a forum where game developers and gaming scholars can come
together to discuss current trends and issues related to gaming.
Speakers of the conference include Tom Mustaine, Richard Gray (LeveLord), Doug Service, all of Ritual Entertainment; Paul Jaquays of Id Software; Paul Steed of Wild Tangent Entertainment; Espen Aarseth, editor of Academic Game Studies Journal, University of Bergen, Norway; Goran Lange of Stockholm University; Tim Redman of The University of Texas at Dallas. Apple computer participates in the Game Zone and Game Tournaments. "
