Here's a bit of news I received regarding a new release of the OpenIL Toolkit:

" The latest version of OpenIL has been released at http://openil.sourceforge.net with a ton of cool new features and bug releases, evidenced by the jump from the last major release of 1.1.9a to 1.3.1a. Some of the major improvements and additions include mipmap generation; saving to .bmp, .sgi and .png; run-length encoding and porting to Djgpp. We also have the cvs tree setup now for anyone who wants to peruse its contents. Enjoy. =] "

The OpenIL (Open Image Library) Toolkit is described on its web site as "a programming library in C/C++ designed to load, save, convert, manipulate and display a variety of image formats."
