The Adrenaline Vault posted a news piece mentioning the announcement by Alias Wavefront concerning their Maya Real Time SDK. Here's a bit more fuzz from Avault:

" Through implementing real-time versions of Maya's 3D algorithms in the Maya Real Time SDK, the toolset enables artists to develop a wide range of visual effects that can then be dropped into their game. These scene elements include geometry and animation, character behavior and deformations, particle effects, collisions and dynamics, as well as complex lighting, texturing, and shading. An OpenGL version of the Maya Real Time engine provides immediate verification of changes to all aspects of 3D content appearance and behavior without requiring recompilation of the game. "
