Suggestions: HW Info Database

I've been thinking about starting a database here on flipCode of useful information about various types of graphics hardware/drivers, (for example D3D cap bits). This would mean that people interested in contributing would run a program (which would be made available) that outputs various things to a log file about their graphics hardware/drivers, then submit it to the database which the public will have access to. I believe this would help people write more compatible software, or should at least help to remind people of things to double check for in their code. Its just an idea. My question, then, does anyone think this is a good idea? Would you be willing to contribute? Is this sort of information already available somewhere that I don't know about? What sort of information about graphics hardware/drivers do you consider "useful"? Send me an e-mail or post a comment. Thanks.
