Good point! Although machetes are usually used to hack through thick bush, the same goes for that because after hacking away at a good portion of grass and such, it'll get a fair amount of juices (chlorophyl) on it and it will start to turn to mush. I can imagine blood would do even further damage.
Come to think of it, they won't even allow a school kid to take a pair of nail trimmers to school, much less a machete! Regardless of what it's made of! I mean, kids here have gotten expelled for cutting gun shapes out of paper. So I doubt a paper machete would go over much better.
