Yes, it's a terrain stuff once again (as it's awful popular nowadays).

Here's the feature list:
  • Geomipmapping as the base LOD (with geomorphs implemented), 1024x1024 terrain stuff, 1km visibility with 1 meter terrain mesh step. By the way, fog here is just for fun, nothing about to hide view frustum culling work;
  • Skybox with multiple clouds layers and diurnal cycle;
  • Flexible object management system (under development).
  • This shot has been taken using Cel-600 + TNT2 Vanta (8Mb video memory). contact with team s_scorb@mail.ru

    Any details about your object management system, I've been thinking about such systems myself, most I see in real apis are quite screwy.

    Cool screenshot (would love to see a demo also). As for the community wide project, Crystal Space is a big example of why it won't really happen. People are too often adding features and no one really wants to learn another api which is constantly changing to newly added features. Of course, thats just my take on it.

    Excuse me for absence of download. The project is not ready yet finally for this purpose, in one week I shall try to post one more screenshot here and link.

    The scene might be more effective if the sun was placed BEHIND the clouds,
    and not in front on it. At least, that's what it looks like to me.

    If you use a skybox, just make it a little translucent to let the sun through.

    what was that about the Backdoor Boys?
    yes the management of such a project is tough, plus egos and own Ideas get in the way programmer A want's it to look this way, programmer B wants it to look the other way

    really what it needs is a conductor like for an orchestra

    " OK you guys/gals over here, you're working on the physics, you other ppl are doing AI, and over here you're ..."

    but that would mean that the conductor would be the creative mind behind the basics and most ppl have their own ideas

    a way to solve that might be to have several projects going ...

    if every programmer in the 'game developer' community were to work on the same project...well, there'd be a whole lot of drunk progs and a lot less source code.
