I wonder if any of you would be so kind and give me some hint how to send e-mail from typical win32 application. What tools should i use? do i need to run mail server?

you must connect to a some mail server (you don't need to run it) and send approriate commands.

the site: http://www.sockaddr.com/ has extremely clear and simple examples for most socket programming (though some of 'm a bit too simplified)

Use the exec command and call a command line utility such as blat (Windows, http://www.blat.net/) or mail (*nix)
