I have access to a copy of 3dsmax7, and I have readed in the reviews of 3dsmax7 that it have a tool to make a normal map from an high poly model, like nvidia melody tool does, but I don't find it, where is it?

Its known that 3dsmax since version 5 or 6 have support for Cg with a nvidia plugin and DX HLSL fx files. My question is, it have support for directx ASM shaders ? if no, why there are dx asm shaders in HardwareShaders directory ?

thanks
