Hi everyone :)

I'm wanting to write a DJ beatmatch wotsit, something that will take two mp3s or an mp3 and a cd track, and bpm and cue information, and beatmatch one to the other like a live DJ :)

I've worked out a way to do it (just in my head of course), but it requires exact timing to send the audio data from a buffer to the soundcard (ie my program or the user says start playing *now* and it does, before the beat gets out of sync.)

Is this possible without using DirectX? If not, is it possible to get a hold of an SDK of just DirectSound? I'm on a 20 hour per month net account on a 56k modem :)
